Hey thanks for the Well what you are asking and the way you are asking it I presume you have a very high metabolism and you do not gain weight easily , thanks to your genes( I really wish I had a bit of them too ;) but now you urgently need to gain weight. May be for a job or whatever the need may be.
Well I have a close friend of mine, who wouldn’t put on weight even if she ate 5000 calories a day for a whole year and did nothing but sit on the couch, thanks to her metabolisn. It took her 5 years to gain 7 kg!!!! She tried everything, gym, eating fatty foods like alomnds, rice, all kinds of junk, sugar infested stuff!!! but all to no use. But then I am one person who would eat just one biryani and put on 1 kg and have to hit the gym hard the next day. So buddy it is all with your genetics(90% culprit), your eating methods( how much you are eating and when you are eating them), your level of physical activity.

So I would sugget  you to

  • Plan it over a 4–5 month period.
  • First, consult your physician or family doctor and get your full health checked. If everything is alright, then ask him as to what foods to eat and what to avoid.
  • Gain weight in a healthy way, exercise while you gain weight. Exercise and you burn calories and feel hungry, ending up eating more than you usually do.
  • Make sure you do not have any family history of Diabetes, cholestrol or heart ailments. If yes, we need to be careful as such weight gain without side effects should be planned. If no, then go ahead but do get your cholesterol levels and health checked once every 2 months.
  • If possible get the help of a person in your friends, seniors or neighbours who have gained weight or hire a capable personal trainer.
  • There is a diet that body builders and people who want to bulk up eat. You can have that.
  • Include more carbs like rice, potatoes, full cream milk, paneer, whole eggs, chicken, almonds, bananas, chikoo and other healthy fattening foods .
  • Include high calorie foods like coconut, cashew nut and also use oil but donot eat fried food as it is not healthy.
  • Eat foods like Ghee, processed sugars, sodas, chips, biscuits, sweets in moderation. They will definetly help you gain weight but not without side effects, which we do not want.
  • Slowly increase your appetite by increasing 500 calories of your daily intake. Add an extra idli, dosa or a cup of upma in your breakfast, increase the quantity of rice in your lunch, Use desi ghee and drink milk in the morning and evening. Have high fat curd.
Please do all this under supervision but do not experiment as it is not advisable.Hope this helps.
